Send an email to hello@zenai.co.ke with the subject "Data Deletion Request" and include your registered email address and business name.
When you use Zenai, we collect the following categories of data: account information (name, email address, business name, WhatsApp Business phone number), billing and subscription records, conversation metadata (sender ID, timestamp, message count — used to power your dashboard), AI intent scripts and configuration you create, and product or service information you upload. We do not permanently store the full text of WhatsApp messages processed by the bot — message content is processed in real-time by our AI pipeline and is not written to long-term storage.
To request deletion of your Zenai account and associated data, send an email to hello@zenai.co.ke with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". In your email, include: (1) the email address you registered with, and (2) your business name as it appears in your Zenai dashboard. We will acknowledge your request within 48 hours and complete the deletion within 30 days.
Upon a verified data deletion request, we permanently remove: your account profile and login credentials, all conversation metadata and dashboard history linked to your account, all AI intent scripts, response templates, and automation configurations you created, all product and service data you uploaded, and your WhatsApp Business channel configuration. Deletion is permanent and irreversible — data cannot be recovered after this process is complete.
Certain records are subject to mandatory retention requirements under Kenyan law and cannot be immediately deleted. Specifically, financial transaction records (M-Pesa payments, subscription invoices, and billing history) are retained for 7 years as required by Kenyan financial regulations and the Income Tax Act. These records are kept securely and are not used for any purpose other than legal and tax compliance.
Zenai acts as a data processor on behalf of your business. WhatsApp messages received by your bot are processed in real-time by our AI pipeline to generate responses. Full message text is not stored permanently in our systems — it is processed in memory and discarded after a response is generated. Conversation metadata (such as message counts and timestamps) is retained to power analytics in your dashboard and is deleted as part of the standard account deletion process.
Once we have processed your deletion request, we will send a confirmation email to the address you registered with. This confirmation will include the date the deletion was completed. If you do not receive a confirmation within 30 days of submitting your request, please follow up at hello@zenai.co.ke.
